BBRHD purchases land from the City of Presidio, Texas for a new permanent facility to serve the community. "Today marks a momentous day for Big Bend Health," says Executive Director Lynette Brehm for the Big Bend Regional Hospital District. "Over the last eight months, I have been working with our board and the City of Presidio to negotiate the purchase of public land seated next to the library for a permanent BBRHD Presidio facility. This new facility with its convenient proximity to the City of Presidio Library, PAC, Senior Center and baseball fields, provides the opportunity to draw people together for health-related services and activities.”
The newly owned BBRHD property spans the corner of O’Reilly and Rancho Road for a little over an acre of land and represents the first capital building project undertaken by the hospital district in Presidio County. With the expansion of services by Big Bend Health such as Mejor Salud, Zumba, the walk-a-thon, nutrition classes and mammograms, a bigger facility for staff and the community is much needed. “I appreciate the Presidio City Council and the BBRHD Board for helping make this possible," says Brehm.
BBRHD will advertise for an architect in the coming weeks.
